Temporally Conditioned Reverberative Thoughts

Today the Moon is in the house of Leo, the great Lion, ruled by the Sun. We can take the Moon as Mary, reflecting the glory of God as it shines upon the earth and consider both the seen and unseen. This placement brings to mind harmony of active creativity that is especially geared to glorification, bringing the light of God to others that they may see. This glorification can be by means of how one creativity engages one’s life and by that action gives glory to God.
Meanwhile, Saturn is residing in the House of Aquarius. Saturn is the great unseen, the profound depths of time beyond measure. Saturn here can be interpreted as the “fortunate Fall” of Adam, is the deep laid plans of salvation history, or more relevantly, the deep laid plans of God in one’s particular life. The House of Aquarius, where Saturn as “hidden” abides, is a pouring forth of cognitive awareness in a medium of filial love, that is, love bound in a common experience or common task. This “pouring out” is generally interpreted as an enlightening awareness. So Saturn in this house can easily be interpreted as a bringing to awareness of things that are hidden.
The opposition of Saturn and the Moon in these houses gives the contemplative pause to consider what dormant things that were hidden are now being revealed in order to be consciously acted upon. In as much as we can intuit such things in our lives, how then can we act in such a way that our lives, by that action, bring glory to God? This opposition is the polarity of the dormant past emerging and the vessel of revelation by action, which reflects the glory of God. It runs from the Aquarian season of dormant expectation in Advent to the active rhythm and fortitude in Ordinary Time of Leo. Each of these as separate realities needs to be taken on its own terms. But they come together in mutual regard to spur the contemplative toward an avenue of action. This reciprocity is made known through the action itself, but it is manifest through the opposing elements. In the Office of Readings today Saint Basil says, “As clear, transparent substances become very bright when sunlight falls on them and shine with a new radiance, so also souls in whom the Spirit shines become spiritual themselves and a source of grace for others”
