Temporally Conditioned Reverberative Thoughts

Resulting from Astro-Kinetic Contemplation

Three conjunctions in the heavens today shine light on social trauma and our call to re-form society.  Mars & Venus conjunct in Capricorn, Saturn & Mercury conjunct in Aquarius, and the Sun & Jupiter conjunct in Pisces.  These conjunctions align along the vault in sequence to tell a story, one that shows a sacrificial harmony in Pisces informed by the communication of a deep seated and foundational urge for social Justice in Aquarius, to a murky development of illumination on the social order bubbling to the surface in Pisces.

In the Liturgy of the Word today, Isaiah sets the stage for our celestial narrative in the First Reading (Is 58:1-9a):

That a man bow his head like a reed and lie in sackcloth and ashes?  Do you call this a fast, a day acceptable to the LORD?

This, rather, is the fasting that I wish: releasing those bound unjustly, untying the thongs of the yoke; Setting free the oppressed breaking every yoke; Sharing your bread with the hungry, sheltering the oppressed and the homeless; Clothing the naked when you see them, and not turning your back on your own.

Then your light shall break forth like the dawn, and your wound shall quickly be healed;

As Mars and Venus conjunct the order born of chaos unites within the personal to the urge for connection and compassion. This takes place in a house of sacrifice and progresses to a house that pours out knowledge, leading us to Exodus 2:1-22 in the Office of Readings.

The conjunction of Mercury and Saturn is the same call to Justice, taking place in Aquarius, springing from the deep tradition of Isaiah. But it presents the learning curve that Moses must navigate. He is passionate about justice, but must learn that imitating the oppressive system by murder is not  the answer. Rather steadfastness that ultimatly leads to life, his marriage with Zipporah is the path.

With this knowledge we progress to our third conjunction in Pisces. The structure of Jupiter illumined by the Sun turns out not to be the complex intricacies of Egyptian society, but the warm embrace of family and the simple life of sustenance. This is a slow development that starts fresh, and whose origins are far more primal than the civilized state. This microcosmic community is the place to teach by  example how justice is done.

This teaching is not Aquarian but Piscean, born out of a primal family bond, unconsciously exemplified rather than imparted. This beginning will unfold to the Law and the Nation of Israel that ultimately begets the Prophet Isaiah. But our call today is personal return. In this season of Lent we are asked to fast from injustice. Today reminds us that we can begin in our relationships with those closest to us.
