Astro-Kinetic Reflection 

Temporally Conditioned Reverberative Thoughts 

Resulting from Astro-Kinetic Contemplation 



Today the Leo stands on the cusp of invasion by the Moon, while Pieces presents the power of Jupiter. Today’s Gospel (Mt 11:2-11) intricately weaves these celestial themes into a lesson on spiritual maturity but also hints at the consequences of possessing a penchant for spiritual advancement..


The gospel opens with John the Baptist imprisoned and losing his sense of certainty. John the Baptist is in every way a manifestation of Leo. The Gospel of Mark is demarcated by the Lion specifically because it opens with John. He is the clear legacy of Elijah who ascended into the heavens in the fiery chariot. 





His personality is external, performative, and brutal to those he opposes. He calls for clear evidence of repentance, “You brood of vipers!Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? Produce good fruit as evidence of your repentance.” Now he languishes in prison facing execution and is uncertain about his successor, Jesus, who has taken the reigns. "Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?" He is Leo vacated, but seeking new inspiration. Now the moon comes to give a deeper sense of spirituality.


Jesus is the Christ, the Ichthys, who presents an inner more spiritual call to repentance and relationship. He proclaims the gospel to the poor and according to his own admission in the gospel (“the poor have the good news proclaimed to them. And blessed is the one who takes no offense at me.”) his methodology is just as offensive to those in power as John’s.  His legacy in this regard is Jupiter present in Pisces. He offers  not just physical mechanisms of religion but true, profound, hope to those who are often hopeless. Jesus is the star that points to a new manner of engagement. 





John is ultimately beheaded because of his demanding call to external repentance and Jesus is executed for his illumination of Hope to the hopeless. 





As we contemplate the heavens on this day of advent, we see the vacancy of simple demonstrative acts, the empty house of Leo. We await for the quickening of those acts by a deeper spirituality, the authorities rule of Jupiter emboldening the house of Pisces and sending its emissary, the Moon, to awaken a deeper level of spirituality. But this fulfillment comes at a cost and we ask ourselves if we are willing to pay the price.
